New Zealand travel to Paris as the reigning Women's Rugby World Cup champions

Today marks one month to go until Women’s Rugby World Cup 2014 kicks off in Paris, France.

The tournament, which sees New Zealand returning as defending champions, gets underway on August 1 with the final played at the new Stade Jean Bouin on August 17. The pool stages take place in Marcoussis on August 1,5 and 9 with the semi-finals on August 13.

Twelve teams will contest the trophy in the French capital, with team squads for the pinnacle event of the women’s Fifteens game named.


The Women’s Rugby World Cup will be broadcast by France TV and Eurosport. Fifteen matches will be broadcast to a global audience over the five match days in the French capital, including all matches from pitch one in Marcoussis and six matches from Stade Jean Bouin.

Several matches will be also be live streamed on during the tournament and further streaming details will be announced in due course.

IRB Chairman Bernard Lapasset said: "The women’s Game has never been so competitive with several teams coming to France knowing they have a realistic chance of lifting the trophy in Paris on August 17."

Tickets for the pool stages in FFR headquarters in Marcoussis and the semi-finals and final in Stade Jean Bouin in central Paris are selling quickly. Prices start as low as €5 and can be bought here.
