England add trio to WRWC training squad
Danielle Waterman returned to England duty in Atlanta and Brazil recently after 15 months on the sidelines

England coach Gary Street has added experienced trio Danielle Waterman, Heather Fisher and Emily Scarratt to his Women’s Rugby World Cup 2014 training squad, taking it to the full complement of 30 players.

Street had named 27 players back in November who, since the start of the year, have been coming together for one week each month for increased training time together ahead of the showpiece of the Women’s Game in France.

Scarratt was England’s standout player in their 17-10 victory over defending Women’s Six Nations champions Ireland in their encounter at Twickenham last weekend, having missed all the November series against Canada and France due to injury.

Waterman and Fisher both made their returns from injury at the IRB Women’s Sevens World Series events in Atlanta and Brazil earlier this month, helping England to finish seventh and fourth respectively.

“It’s great to welcome these three players into the RWC training squad. They have all come back well from injuries and proved once again they are world-class players in both the Six Nations and the Sevens World Series,” said Street.

“It is fantastic to have players of this experience in our set-up. We now have a training squad of 30 players but we still have a lot of exciting players outside of this squad who still very much have the opportunity to put their hands up for RWC selection ahead of the tournament in France.”

England will play Canada, Samoa and Spain in Pool A at Women's Rugby World Cup, which takes place from 1-17 August in France.
